Our Most Explosive Video Ever!

This is our most explosive video launch ever! Working with Proparms, the Canadian leader in disrupter technology for military and police EOD (Explosive Ordinance disposal) (or bomb disposal in layman’s terms) was an exciting process! The result of the carefully choreographed filming was the slow-motion visually stunning detonations you see featured on their homepage – as well as more than a dozen short product display videos like the one featured on this page.

Inspired in part by the explosions in the trailer for the moody action film “The Dark Knight”, Proparms wanted a short breathtaking video to bring visitors into its website, one that would capture both the technical prowess and awesome power of their waterjet and recoilless disrupters. A normal video camera shoots at 30 frames per second (fps). To achieve the ultra slow motion effect in this video, we used the Phantom Mira M320S that can shoot at 1540 frames per second.

The whole 1 day filming process was very carefully timed (shooting over 1500 frames per seconds eats up memory cards fast!) with a strong emphasis on safety for the crew. We also had a second angle set up to capture each detonation using the FS700 in slow mo.

The resulting video and its visually striking aesthetic are what you see here – and our small part of contributing to the promotion of an important industry.
