About

Proparms, a company that makes a specialized weapon known as a “disruptor” (used by police and the military to neutralize Improvised Explosive Devices – IED’s) came to us to create an exciting video for their newly revamped website. Inspired by the slow motion explosions in the trailer for the Batman movie “The Dark Knight”, they were looking for breathtaking images that could convey the impressive destructive force of their product without using any narration.

Workflow

Using a state-of-the-art high-speed Phantom Miro M320S camera, we filmed a Proparms disrupter disarming simulated typical “threats”. The camera’s incredibly high frame rate (over 1,500 frames per second (fps) compared to the usual rate of 30 fps for a conventional video camera) allows for high speed imaging, so images can be slowed to a stand-still in post-production. The result was a video that shows off the intricate details of each explosion, while highlighting the efficiency and precision of Proparms’ disrupters.
